BMW Air Intake System
If you can increase the oxygen supply to your BMW, naturally it will make fuel burning easier with the resultant increase in horse power. This is exactly what air intake systems are expected to do. They are designed to increase the power of cars while saving on fuel, and work through the supply of colder air to engine, taken from outside. As cold air is higher in density it has more oxygen. Quite a few strategies are used to make better cold air intake for BMW-cars. Making the air flow channels bigger by increasing diameter to reduce the speed of air coming in, and making the inside of the channel more smooth to enable air to flow with less resistance are the primary method applied. Another way to increase air intake is to make the air flow channel shorter and design it with lesser number of bends. Finally, the air filter could be made simpler to make it easier for the air to flow in. Here, there is the disadvantage of reducing air quality. In case dust goes in as a result, it could harm the engine instead of enhancing its performance. Usually BMW air intake systems are made of fiber glass plastic or rubber and are placed inside engines. Some are insulated to prevent engine heat affecting the temperature of the air taken in. The only disadvantage with these BMW systems is that water could go into the engine when it rains as the opening is at a lower level.
